How School works

Four separate records

  • The morning plan says what you intend to do. It never records time.
  • Marking a task or lesson complete says the work is done. It never records time.
  • The end-of-day note is a message for the family. It never records time.
  • Confirmed learning is the only record of instruction time. It is saved only when someone confirms what actually happened.
  • A timetable or calendar shows planned time, not confirmed time.

Morning plan

  • Before lessons, tick the work you intend to do, or choose No tasks planned. Add what you finished last time and where you might need help if you like.
  • For an independent-study block, choose the subject you plan to study. You can change it when you confirm the day.
  • Save draft keeps the plan editable. Submit morning plan keeps it as it was for review; after that only a parent can correct it, with a reason.
  • Ticking work in the plan does not complete or move it.

Lessons and tasks

  • Open a lesson to see its materials, steps, what to keep, and how to get help.
  • Mark the task complete when the work is done; reopen it if more work is needed.
  • Tasks stay on their planned date until someone moves them. An open task from an earlier date is overdue. Unscheduled tasks have no date.
  • Tasks opens on this week's open work. Earlier weeks, later weeks and unscheduled tasks are listed below it.
  • Students add and edit their own tasks using the existing subjects. A parent sets up, edits and archives subjects.
  • Archiving a task or subject puts it aside without deleting its history. Every change keeps the earlier version and who made it.

End-of-day note

  • Write what is ready for review, where you need help and what you need tomorrow. Parents can read it and reply in School.
  • Saving does not send an email and does not mean anyone has read it.
  • You can revise your own note later; earlier versions stay available. If another tab changed it, load the latest version and combine the two before saving.
  • Unsaved text can be recovered in the same browser tab after you navigate away. That is not a backup.
  • The note saves separately from confirmed learning.

Confirming learning

  • Went as planned confirms that the listed lessons actually happened, including the subject chosen for each independent-study block. It is available only after every lesson has ended, when the schedule has loaded and nothing needs review.
  • Something changed lets you keep, shorten, split or skip each block, choose the subject actually studied, and add learning that was not on the schedule. Only time that has already passed can be saved.
  • Sick day and Other absence record a full-day absence with no instruction. If some learning happened despite sickness, use Something changed instead.
  • Learning can be saved only for dates inside the school-record dates, up to today.
  • Parents can correct a saved record with a reason. Earlier versions stay in the history.
  • Confirming does not decide whether a day meets any legal requirement.

Timetable, calendar and school-record dates

  • The weekly timetable is the planned routine. A parent can save a new version that starts on a chosen date; earlier versions and saved records do not change.
  • The school-record dates are the dates learning can be recorded for. The calendar marks planned school days and days off.
  • An empty schedule does not make a day a holiday, and a planned day off can still have learning if it happened.
  • If Google Calendar is connected, refresh it to read changes. A failed refresh keeps the last schedule that loaded. School never edits Google events.

Reports and exports

  • Reports show planned days, confirmed learning, absences and days not yet confirmed, separately. Do not add the day counts together.
  • Hours by subject use exact saved seconds; rounded hours can differ slightly when added by hand.
  • Reports opens on this week. Choose This week, Last week, This month, Last month, Quarter, School year to date, or Custom for any dates.
  • Quarter uses the period each quarterly report covers, which a parent enters under Quarter dates. The IHIP's submission dates are when reports are due, which may not be the end of a period. School never works these dates out.
  • School year to date runs from the start of the school-record dates through today, or through their end if that is earlier.
  • Reports shows confirmed hours by subject, recorded absences and past school days not yet confirmed first. Other counts and the daily detail are one click away.
  • Print view and Download CSV export the period on screen; their buttons show its dates. To export another period, choose it first. If records changed since, load the period again.
  • Exports leave out free-text notes. Keep printed and downloaded copies private.
  • Reports are available only to assigned parents.

Accounts and privacy

  • Each parent and student signs in with their own approved Google account and sees only the students assigned to them.
  • Parents invite accounts and can withdraw access. School sends no email; share the link yourself.
  • Signing in does not give School access to Google Calendar. Calendar is connected separately and read-only.
